Roofers Local 11 — Chicago

Roofers Local 11 represents over 1,200 roofing professionals across the Chicago metro area. We are a chartered local of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers & Allied Workers (UURWAW), dedicated to skilled craftsmanship, family-sustaining wages, and a safe working environment for every member. For more than a century, Local 11 has trained the roofers who protect Chicago's homes, schools, hospitals, and commercial buildings. Our apprenticeship program combines paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction, producing journeyworkers who are certified, insured, and ready for any roofing system — from steep-slope residential to commercial low-slope and waterproofing.

Cook, Lake, DuPage, Will, and Kane counties

- Must be at least 18 years old - High school diploma or GED equivalent - Valid driver's license and reliable transportation - Ability to pass a drug test - Physical ability to work at heights and lift 50+ lbs - Willingness to complete 3-year apprenticeship (minimum 4,000 on-the-job hours plus 144 classroom hours per year)

1. Submit the online interest form or call the training center 2. Attend a monthly information session (first Tuesday of each month) 3. Complete a brief math and reading assessment 4. Interview with the apprenticeship committee 5. If selected, begin paid on-the-job training with a signatory contractor

Apprentices start at 50% of journeyworker rate and advance to 60%, 70%, 80%, and 90% at each year. Journeyworker rate is currently $48.75/hour plus benefits.
